A partner is sought by BCDA for the P1-B solar project in New Clark City.

The 25-megawatt solar farm project in New Clark City, Central Luzon, is being built with assistance from the private sector by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

The large-scale solar project, according to a statement released by the BCDA on Wednesday, will be situated on a 37-hectare parcel of land in New Clark City’s most northern region.

At least PHP1 billion will be spent on the project.

“In keeping with the Marcos administration’s emphasis on renewable energy, the BCDA is pushing for the growth of sustainable energy sources in New Clark City. According to BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Aileen Zosa, “This solar farm is one of the essential projects in New Clark City as it will complement energy sources, minimize energy prices for our locators, and ensure reduced carbon emissions.

The procurement of terms of reference (TOR) was made available to interested bidders by the BCDA on Wednesday.

On March 24 at 10 a.m., it will hold a pre-bid conference at the BCDA Corporate Headquarters in Taguig City.

Before April 21, 2023, at noon, interested companies may submit their bid paperwork, eligibility requirements, and financial information for the solar project.

The property will be made available by the BCDA for a 25-year initial lease, which can be extended if both parties agree for another 25 years.

“The BCDA is seeking partners in the private sector to help us with this effort. As we work to transform New Clark City into a smart, sustainable, and green metropolis, your participation is crucial, Zosa continued.

According to Zosa, the project is in accordance with the government’s objective to raise the proportion of renewable energy in the nation’s energy mix to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040.

The Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028 of the Marcos government, which intends to utilize indigenous energy sources to have a reliable power supply and reduce the cost of electricity in the nation, includes increasing the share and use of renewable energy.
