PH participates in the UN Commission on the Status of Women’s 67th session.

A delegation from the Philippines will attend the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which will be held in New York from March 6 to 17.

Antonio Lagdameo, Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Philippine Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, is in charge of the delegation of the Philippines.

Under the banner “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” the United Nations Observance of IWD honors and celebrates women and girls who are leading the way in the development of transformational technology and digital education.

The celebration will also look at how the growing economic and social disparities caused by the digital gender gap may be addressed, as well as the significance of safeguarding the online and ICT-enabled gender-based violence against women and girls.

Assistant Secretary Diana Minda Ignacio of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Assistant Secretary Sarah Daway-Ducanes of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Assistant Secretary Ester Aldana of the Department of the Interior (DILG), First Secretary Maria Roseny Fangco, the Philippine Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, and Commissioner Faydah Dumarpa of the Commission on Human Rights are among the alternate representatives.

The CSW is the main intergovernmental organization in the world that is solely focused on advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.

It plays a crucial role in advancing women’s rights, capturing the reality of women’s lives around the globe, and establishing international norms for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The UN website states that annually March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day to honor women for their accomplishments regardless of national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political boundaries.
