Beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program in Camiguin province received wages Friday totaling at least PHP3 million.

The distribution of funds to 500 individuals in the town of Mambajao was overseen by DOLE officials and Mayor Yigo Jesus Romualdo.

In a Facebook post, Romualdo expressed his gratitude to the DOLE for its ongoing support of his initiatives and projects.

The Mahinog municipality’s market vendors association received PHP150,000 in livelihood support from DOLE authorities under the direction of Undersecretaries Felipe Egargo Jr. and Benjo Santos Benavides.

Additional TUPAD recipients

A total of PHP 1.6 million was also distributed to program participants in Maramag town, Bukidnon province.

Raul Valmores, the DOLE 10-Bukidnon Provincial Director, reported that each beneficiary received PHP3,900 in compensation for their ten days of community service.

In a statement, he stated that “TUPAD strives to improve the quality of employees’ physical living situations through the provision of emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers.

TUPAD is being implemented, according to Valmores, through direct administration or accredited co-partners regarding worker organizations of federal government agencies and local government units that have satisfied DOLE accreditation requirements.

Merlita Barredo, 63, a beneficiary from Barangay San Miguel in Maramag, said TUPAD helped her earn more money, especially because she has a disability.

“I’ve benefited from DOLE. This initiative benefits individuals like myself. It provided me an opportunity to take part despite my disabilities, “She stated.
