An investigation of the Social Security System’s (SSS) alleged delays in processing member benefits, particularly retirement and death claims, has been requested by Senator Raffy Tulfo.

Tulfo claimed in Senate Resolution (SR) 544, which was submitted on Tuesday, that retirees and dependents have experienced financial hardships as a result of the claims processing delays, particularly those who depend on their benefits to get by on a daily basis.

The resolution said that it was the duty of the Senate to make sure that public institutions like the SSS were effective in serving the general populace, particularly those who had contributed to the system.

According to Tulfo, the investigation should look at the causes of claim processing delays and the steps the SSS is doing to resolve them.

He continued by saying that it ought to go over potential changes that may be made to increase the effectiveness of benefit claims, like the use of digital technologies and process automation.

According to his proposal, the investigation should also cover the need for more resources, including as money and personnel, to help the SSS handle benefits claims effectively, as well as the potential creation of a system that will track the status of claims.

In order to strengthen the SSS and guarantee that its members receive their benefits in a prompt and effective way, legislative reforms will be proposed based on the results and recommendations made as a consequence of the aforementioned investigation.

The SSS was established to give Filipinos social safety and aid them in their future planning through contributions and benefits.
