A Presidential Help Desk will be established by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration to address public requests for financial and medical aid, the Palace announced on Thursday.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed Executive Order 20 on March 21, according to a press release from the Presidential Communications Office, which would establish the Presidential Help Desk to handle the voluminous financial and medical assistance requests that were sent to the Office of the President.

The EO said that the Presidential Help Desk will “complement the existing health services and projects of the Government” by offering qualified individuals direct, easily accessible financial and medical support.

The Presidential Action Center will oversee the Presidential Help Desk under the EO. (PACe).

A project coordinator will be assigned the responsibility of reporting directly to the PACe, ensuring that the project’s daily operations are managed effectively, efficiently, and affordably, and supervising its operational activities, including the performance of each employee’s individual duties.

The PACe will send the President, through the Office of the Executive Secretary, an annual report on the activities of the Presidential Help Desk.

The PACe has received 52,728 action documents from the public during the first six months of the Marcos administration, 20.08% of which are linked to medical issues, such as requests for medications or financial aid to cover the costs of medical treatments and hospital bills.

The EO further said that the head of the PACe will choose the best staffing arrangement and corresponding qualification requirements for each position required to run the Presidential Help Desk.

The monies required for the Presidential Help Desk’s operations will be billed “against appropriate funding sources under the OP.”
