DAR: Agricultural equipment will improve Abra farmers’ quality of life
Four agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in the province of Abra have received farm machinery and equipment worth a combined PHP7.48 million from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to assist them to expand their livelihood initiatives and improve their climate resilience.
The Villa Banat Agriculture Cooperative, Abualan Farmers and ARB Agricultural Cooperative, Upper Luba FIA, and Raniag Pakiling Integrated Development Association Inc. are among the recipients of the ARBO, according to a press statement issued by the DAR on Monday.
Liberato Bernese, president of the Raniag Pakiling Integrated Development Association, Incorporated, said, “We would like to convey our deepest appreciation to the DAR for their ongoing support towards our growth. “Nais naming ipaabot ang aming taos-pusong pasasalamat sa DAR.”
One hauling truck, two four-wheel drive tractors, six mechanical rice threshers, ten water pumps, two electric power sprayers, six manual sprayers, four brass cutters, 12 rolls of water hose, and three hand tractors are among the items provided, according to Mercedes Borongan, the DAR-Abra Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer.
She claimed that DAR’s Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Assistance Program, which aims to increase and sustain the agricultural production of agrarian reform communities as a measure of adaptation towards climate change resiliency, provided the machinery and equipment.
During the equipment turnover, Borongan told the farmers’ organizations, “It is essential for you to make the best use of this equipment in the landholdings awarded to you in order to fulfill the government’s vision to improve the quality of your lives, enhance your dignity, and give your children a brighter future through greater productivity of your agricultural lands.”
She additionally exhorted the ARBOs to carefully plan their operational procedures in order to make the best use of the machinery.
According to DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III, the distribution of farm machinery and equipment is in keeping with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to increase the ARBOs’ statewide livelihood activities.
He continued by saying that this is a tangible example of the administration’s efforts to make the government more accessible to the populace.
