OCTA: The Covid-19 positive rate increased to 8.5% nationwide.
As of April 19, the nation’s positivity rate, or the proportion of people who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), increased to 8.5 percent.
According to the most recent information from the Department of Health (DOH), Dr. Guido David, an OCTA Research Group fellow, tweeted on Wednesday night that there were 382 additional instances, bringing the total to 4,086,981.
“There are 8,252 active cases,” he stated.
He said that the 4,012,286 recovered cases now constitute 2,138 fresh recoveries, bringing the total to 4,012,281.
No new fatalities were reported.
According to DOH Officer in Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire on Tuesday, the positive rate nationally increased to 7.6 percent from 6.9 percent the previous week.
She added that the daily average of new cases increased from 274 last week to 371 today.
The Covid-19 positive rate recommendation threshold, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is 5%.
The country’s healthcare system is set up to handle severe and critical cases, so the DOH has warned the public not to be concerned about the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
