Following repeated interceptions of Senegalese using bogus travel documents, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has warned its employees at the airports.

The number of Senegalese nationals found in possession of passports with forged BI stamps and visas concerned BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

He stated in a statement that the evidence “implies that there might be a syndicate that defrauds these Africans and offers to fix their documents, but gives them fake ones.”

The BI head also issued a warning to visitors to the nation not to fall victim to syndicates and to report any encounters with these dishonest people to the police.

“Foreign nationals in the country should not seek the assistance of fixers that promise to process your papers illegally,” he said.

Tansingco continued, “Report these fixers to the police right now so they can be detained and imprisoned.

Three Senegalese travelers, including two youngsters, were detained by the BI earlier for trying to flee the country with fake immigration stamps in their passports at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

The Schengen visas that were placed on their passports were also fake, the BI’s forensic documents lab discovered after further analysis of their travel documents.

The Bureau additionally reported intercepting a Senegalese man’s application early this month who had a bogus BI stamp embossed on his passport.
