After individuals realized the advantages of online transactions, a senior official of the digital-only Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad (CIMB) Bank is certain that the recently issued virtual debit card will help double the number of their virtual cash users.

In a conference on Thursday, CIMB Chief Marketing Officer Bunny Aguilar stated that while people’s concern about conducting business online is true, more people are still choosing to do so because of its convenience.

According to Aguilar, that is one advantage of utilizing a virtual debit card: “The transaction is (more) secured than when using a physical card.”

He said that whenever an online transaction required a credit card, their virtual debit card could be used in its place.

According to Aguilar, another positive aspect of this situation is that the buyer would utilize his money instead of a credit card that he would have to pay back later to pay for any purchases.

According to him, because of this, CIMB officials continue to advocate for adopting digital transactions.

Aguilar pointed out that the product also helps the government’s goal of having 50 percent or more of all retail transactions nationwide be digital financial transactions by 2023.

To expand the digitalization ecosystem, not just for CIMB but for the banking sector, ” he said, “we want to encourage our customers to avail of this product,” he said.
