The Department of Agriculture in the Davao Region (DA-11) has given ample assistance to the region’s 789 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) who recently received their land titles.

“Now that they are the rightful owners of their lands, the DA’s support, particularly in production, will continue,” stated Marila Corpuz, DA-11’s Technical Director for Operations, in an interview on Monday.

Corpuz explained that the production support includes providing agricultural supplies such as seeds and seedlings, among other essentials.

On July 7, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR-11) awarded electronic land titles to the ARBs under the agency’s Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (Project SPLIT). This initiative covers around 1,017 hectares of land from various holdings in different provinces of the region.

“If they have large tracts of land for corn or rice cultivation, we can provide them with farm machinery and equipment through the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech),” Corpuz added.

DA-11 has long been extending support to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) interested in engaging in swine, poultry, and goat farming, according to Corpuz.

Since last year, 29 out of the 44 regional ARBOs have benefited from the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) program.

INSPIRE aims to aid the recovery of the country’s swine industry by boosting hog production and ensuring the availability, accessibility, and affordability of pork and pork products.

“If they express interest in the program, DA-11 will assess their eligibility, and if they meet the requirements, they will receive assistance worth PHP5.5 million to enhance their swine production initiatives,” Corpuz further explained.
