As the new Omicron variant spreads quickly, more than 1 million cases of coronavirus were reported in the United States, which is a record for a single day.

On Monday, the school in Maryland had 1,082,549 new cases. The United States has 56.1 million confirmed cases and an extra 827,000 deaths.

President Joe Biden is going to meet with members of the White House Covid-19 Response Team to talk about the Omicron variant of the Covid-19.

Studies say that the new variant, which isn’t as bad as delta, is behind most of the new cases in the last few weeks.

In fact, Dr. Anthony Fauci, a top infectious diseases expert, said that even though data shows that Omicron seems to cause less serious infections, the huge surge in cases will still lead to hospitalizations.

“That’s why we’re worried about stressing and straining the hospital system,” Fauci said on ABC’s This Week news show.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 205 million Americans have been fully vaccinated. This is about 62% of the population, or 205 million people (CDC).
