PH adds 28,007 new Covid cases and 4,471 new recoveries to its database.

On Tuesday, the Philippines recorded 28,007 new coronavirus infections and 4,471 coronavirus recoveries.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, there have been 181,016 active cases, with total recoveries reaching 2,792,946, or 92.3 percent of 3,026,473 infections, according to the most recent Covid-19 bulletin.

The number of new cases on Tuesday is down from Monday’s 33,169.

There are 170,873 light cases, 2,863 intermediate cases, 5,521 asymptomatic patients, 1,464 severe cases, and 295 critical cases among the active cases.

“Of the 28,007 instances recorded today, 27,604 (99 percent) happened in the last 14 days — December 29, 2021, to January 11, 2022,” according to the DOH.

The National Capital Region (NCR) had 15,256 new infections in the last two weeks, accounting for 55 percent of all new infections; Calabarzon had 5,861 new infections, accounting for 21 percent; and Central Luzon had 3,064 new infections, accounting for 11 percent.

The mortality toll has risen to 52,511 people, with 219 new deaths accounting for 1.74 percent of all cases.

According to the January 7 data, 44 percent of the 77,479 people who were tested for Covid-19 were positive.

The DOH stated, “Sixty-four duplicates were removed from the total case count because 52 of them are recoveries.”

Meanwhile, after validation, 184 cases formerly categorized as recoveries were reclassified as fatalities.

On January 9, all laboratories were operational, however, 12 of them were unable to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on statistics from the previous 14 days, the 14 laboratories are responsible for 4.2 percent of samples examined and 5.5 percent of positive persons, according to the DOH.

Patients with Covid-19 have used 41% of 3,400 critical care unit (ICU) beds, 44% of 19,600 isolation beds, 41% of 13,300 ward beds, and 18% of 3,000 ventilators nationwide to date.

In the meantime, the NCR is home to 54% of 1,100 ICU beds, 60% of 4,500 isolation beds, 64% of 4,400 ward beds, and 27% of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
