The Philippine Army (PA) announced Tuesday night that its 52nd Engineer Brigade (52EBde) is aiding local government units in northeastern Mindanao with rehabilitation and restoration efforts in towns devastated by Typhoon Odette.

Since “Odette” stormed over Mindanao and Visayas in mid-December last year, the 52EBde units have been providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief.

“Seven construction and maintenance teams from 52EBde are now deployed in Surigao del Norte, Siargao, and Dinagat Islands to remove debris-strewn roads and assist in the repair of typhoon-damaged residences and government facilities,” PA spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad said in a statement.

These teams also facilitated the delivery of construction materials to help typhoon-affected residents in Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands restore their homes, he said.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania’s Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., assured families in disaster areas of his continuous assistance.

“The Philippine Army will continue to use all available resources to assist our typhoon-devastated compatriots in regaining their footing,” he added.
