Every day, One Hospital command receives 1.1 thousand calls: Vega
Since the last week of December 2021, the One Hospital Command (OHC), the country’s Covid-19 referral center, has been receiving more than 1,100 calls each day, according to a health official.
From the first to the third week of December 2021, Health Undersecretary and Treatment Czar Leopoldo Vega revealed the OHC had only documented 98 to 112 calls per day during a televised public conference.
“Kakaiba talaga ito dahil iyong September calls natin, on the last wave, ay umabot na kami sa mga 780 to 800 calls,” he explained.
About 60% of the calls, according to Vega, are requests for help with home isolation or referrals to isolation or quarantine institutions.
The OHC received calls in September 2021 requesting hospital or intensive care unit referrals as well as oxygen supply delivery.
“This January, kukonti na iyong recommendations namin, nasa mga 15% iyong referrals namin,” Vega remarked.
The country’s total number of active Covid-19 cases had risen to 237,387 as of 4 p.m. Thursday, after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 34,021 new infections, the largest single-day figure since the pandemic began in March 2020.
There are 225,408 mild cases, 2,881 moderate cases, 7,332 asymptomatic cases, 1,468 severe cases, and 298 critical cases among the active cases.
To avoid overburdening healthcare facilities, the Department of Health announced rules for home isolation and quarantine of confirmed Covid-19 cases and Covid-19 suspected cases with no, mild, or moderate symptoms on January 6.
