Over the weekend, the Caraga Region added 810 new cases to its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) total.

On Sunday, the Department of Health in Region 13 (DOH-13) announced 108 fresh recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 47,746 out of 52,914 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

“Caraga Region now has a total of 3,251 active Covid-19 cases,” according to the DOH-13 report.

On Saturday, Agusan del Sur had the most new infections (164), followed by Surigao del Sur (153), Agusan del Norte (89), Surigao del Norte (29), and the Dinagat Islands (14). (2).

There were 203 new cases recorded in the cities of Bislig, Surigao, Cabadbaran, Tandag, and Bayugan, including 47 in Bislig, 41 in Surigao, 34 in Cabadbaran, 33 in Tandag, and 15 in Bayugan.

All provinces in the region, with the exception of the Dinagat Islands, are on Alert Level 3 until January 31.

With one more death, the total number of Covid-19-related deaths in the region has reached 108.

From 860 active cases on January 16, the number jumped to 1,182 the next day and continued to rise quickly.

Mayor Jane Plaza of Carmen, Surigao del Sur, has ordered the suspension of operations in the capitol until January 26 due to an outbreak of diseases.

Plaza said in a statement on Sunday that “many government personnel tested positive in the recently conducted mass RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) testing.”

Plaza stated that all government personnel, regardless of test results, are urged to remain in isolation during the work stoppage.

Before returning to work on January 27, all staff will be exposed to antigen swab tests.

On Saturday, twenty-eight more cases were reported in Carmen.
