National vax drive working holidays: 1st and 3rd days: NTF
The National Covid-19 Vaccination Drive will take place on November 29 and December 1 to avoid disrupting economic activity while the government ramps up vaccination against the coronavirus disease 2019. (Covid-19).
The second day, November 30, is a regular non-working holiday to commemorate the birth of Andres Bonifacio, the Philippine Revolution’s Father.
Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief of the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, stated that workers will be permitted to visit vaccination sites without being paid less.
“We also wanted to pick up some more on our economic recovery,” he said during a press conference at the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City on Monday.
The National Task Force has already created the synchronization matrix and inoculation timeline for the three-day vaccination drive, which will be presented to President Rodrigo Duterte during the Talk to the People on Tuesday.
The government intends to fully immunize at least 54 million Filipinos by the end of the year, and up to 77 million by the end of the first quarter of next year, followed by about 20 million more in the second quarter and the remaining unvaccinated Filipinos in the third quarter.
Galvez stated that once the emergency use authorization (EUA) is issued, vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years will most likely begin in the first quarter of 2022, while inoculation of children aged 12 to 17 years will continue.
“We want to finish the health-care worker boosters as soon as possible, by the end of November to December 15,” he added.
The government also intends to finish administering the third or booster doses to senior citizens and adults with comorbidities by the end of the year.
Booster doses for government employees and other economic front-liners who received their primary doses from March to May could begin next year.
“We’ll see if we can make it by mid-December or early January for our vaccines in March, April, and May.” But, without a doubt, our government and economic workers will be ahead of the general population,” Galvez said.
Vaccine recipients from July to December will also receive booster shots by the end of the year.
“So that’s our plan to keep it from relapsing and to ensure that the chain of protection remains in place.” “It will be done in stages, as recommended by the vaccine experts panel,” Galvez explained.
