Most of the country will see sunny skies with a few showers, according to the weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin that a shear line affecting northern Luzon will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.

PAGASA weather forecaster Benison Estareja said, “There will be light to moderate rainfall, with some severe rains, so take measures against flooding and landslides.”

Rains are expected to fall across most of northern Luzon till the weekend, according to the shear line.

Warm and humid weather will prevail over the rest of Luzon. “There’s a chance of rain in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms,” he said.

The Visayas will have bright skies until midday, while Mindanao will have cloudy skies until noon. Rains in the afternoon and thunderstorms at night are expected across much of Mindanao, according to Estareja.

Until the end of January, no weather disturbances are forecast.

Meanwhile, throughout northern Luzon, moderate to high winds and moderate to rough waves will prevail.

Over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon, moderate to gale-force winds will be experienced due to the northeast monsoon.

Larger sea vessels are warned of strong waves, while fishing boats and other small sea vessels are cautioned not to enter into the water.

Winds will be light to moderate elsewhere, with modest to moderate seas.
