Angeles is preparing to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11.
Beginning next month, the local administration will begin administering coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines to younger children.
On Thursday, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. stated the city has beefed up its logistics, manpower, and resources to combat the feared illness.
“Handa po ang siyudad sa pagsisimula ng bakuna para sa mga batang may edad lima hanggang labing-isang taon (Handa po ang siyudad sa pagsisimula ng bakuna para sa mga batang may edad lima hanggang labing-isang taon),” Lazatin remarked
Irish Calaguas, the city’s lead vaccine implementer, stated that the local administration will supply all vaccination needed for the children to safeguard their health and welfare.
Meanwhile, Reina Manuel, the head of the city’s vaccination committee on ways and means, said the city has obtained all of the auxiliary materials required for the immunization of the city’s targeted population.
While the Department of Health issues instructions for the immunization of youngsters, City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra said she is now working with volunteer pediatricians who will be deployed at the mega vaccination locations.
In November of last year, 64 pediatricians agreed to help the local government with the immunization of children aged 12 to 17.
Meanwhile, booster shots are being distributed through the “Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay.”
To date, 353,229 Angelenos have gotten the entire Covid-19 vaccine, with 315,462 receiving only the first dosage and 18,316 receiving booster doses.
The overall number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the city is 14,085, with 903 current infections as of January 26.
There were 12,629 people who survived the sickness, while 526 people died.
