PH will exhibit a variety of inventions and research at the Dubai Expo.
An official from the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology (DOST) stated on Monday that the Philippines will be exhibiting numerous technologies and researches at the Dubai Expo.
Assistant Secretary Leah Buendia of the Department of Science and Technology said their team will exhibit research and inventions in Dubai, with some of them being aired live on the Philippine Embassy and DOST-International Cooperation’s Facebook sites.
On February 3 and 5, according to Buendia, the government will demonstrate its initiatives to create capacity and share information on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in boosting efficiency in public and private sector activities.
“To pursue joint undertakings, a partnership between the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) and its counterpart institution, as well as a possible partner university like the University of Birmingham Dubai,” she told the Philippine News Agency.
A tour to the startup labs was also planned.
The DOST will host a visit and meeting with officials from the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park, as well as other education and research institutes in the United Arab Emirates, about water resources and management from February 9 to 14.
Officials from the Department of Science and Technology will also meet with Filipino organizations to discuss the agency’s activities that may be of interest to foreign employees.
DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Pea said earlier in a taped report that the webinar, provisionally set for March 4, intends to promote indigenous innovations not just to Dubai markets but also to other countries participating in the Dubai Expo.
The webinar will also promote DOST-assisted small and medium firm goods to a broader and more diverse market group, according to him.
“It will be conducted online, but a DOST crew will travel to Dubai,” he added of the webinar.

During the webinar, there will also be a display of Philippine tropical fabrics.
With both countries’ textile industries thriving, Buendia said the DOST and a private-sector partner will discuss strategies and programs, as well as perform a virtual tour of the Philippine Textile Research Institute showroom.
“We may look into forming a partnership with the Islamic Fashion and Design Council and ESMOD Dubai,” Buendia said.
