With children becoming society’s primary concern, researchers are looking into measures to assure their safety and growth. The government has also contributed to the success of such programs. Some of the reasons why after-school programs have become so popular are as follows:

3) Reduces the desire to watch television: The average child watches 23 hours of television every week. When a youngster participates in an activity, he or she uses both his mental and physical abilities to overcome obstacles.

5) Improving school attendance: Having more self-confidence and a higher interest in school leads to increased attendance. A program that assists children with their homework provides them with a much-needed sense of accomplishment.

Children who participate in after-school activities are better at handling conflict and cooperating with authority figures.

7) Stronger ties to family and community.
