The National Capital Region (NCR) is currently classed as having a very low risk of coronavirus, according to the OCTA Research Group.

In a Twitter post, OCTA Research Group Fellow Dr. Guido David indicated that NCR’s data for the week of November 26 to December 2 was compared to the previous year’s data for the same week.

The average number of new cases each day in the region is now 138, down 278 from last year’s estimate.

Meanwhile, this year’s reproduction number is 0.36, compared to 0.94 last year.

For the past week, the daily attack rate per 100,000 people was 0.97, compared to 2.94 last year.

From November 26 to December 2, the NCR was able to conduct 18,875 Covid-19 tests, compared to 18,189 during the same period last year.

In terms of the healthcare system, the region had a Covid-19 hospital bed occupancy rate of 21%, with 1,791 beds used, down 17 percent from last year’s record of 2,305 beds used.

This year, 341 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are occupied, which is somewhat more than last year’s 323.

The government has gradually expanded the number of ICU beds since the pandemic reached the country in the first quarter of 2020, resulting in a reduced ICU bed occupancy rate of 27% this year compared to 47% last year.
