According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), more than 100 percent of the target eligible population in the National Capital Region (NCR) has been fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

MMDA chairperson Benjamin Abalos Jr. remarked in an interview that Metro Manila has a population of 9.8 million people who are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine.

“That’s more than upper protection for me,” he explained.

High vaccine participation, according to Abalos, is one of the most important reasons why Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila continue to decline.

He cited the mayors of the NCR’s effective implementation of a uniform Covid-19 response strategy.

He also stated that the mayors of Metro Manila had agreed to send healthcare workers to adjacent provinces to help with vaccinations.
