The 10-year T-bond rate has risen in tandem with the rise in US Treasury yields.

The increase in the 10-year Treasury bond (T-bond) rate on Tuesday, according to National Treasurer Rosalia de Leon, is modest and within secondary market prices.

The debt paper’s average rate increased to 5.093 percent from 4.831 percent previously.

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) offered PHP35 billion for it, and the auction committee gave it to the highest bidder. The total amount of tenders received was PHP51.077 billion.

De Leon stated the average rate of the securities is “marginally higher than secondary level as local rates mirror climb in US treasuries” in a Viber message to journalists.

“With an expected higher US CPI (consumer price index) data in January, the market remains cautious, putting additional pressure on the Fed to act hawkish,” she said.

The yield on the US 10-year Treasury note jumped to 1.84 percent at the end of last week’s trading from 1.76 percent late Wednesday.
