According to Vince Dizon, the president’s adviser on Covid-19 response, the administration is considering developing a strategic roadmap to the new normal so that the country can begin “defeating” the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Dizon said they are now discussing the crafting of the new normal roadmap, a way forward to dealing with the dreaded virus, with key officials of the National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19, including NTF chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Interior, and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año, and NTF chairperson Delfin Lorenzana, during President Rodrigo Duterte’s Talk to the People on Monday night.

The NTF aims to reduce active cases to pre-Omicron levels this month, with less than 1,000 infections recorded every day, according to Dizon.

“We are working hard to reduce cases, especially this month.” We’ll start developing and mapping out a road to the new normal while we’re doing that,” he said.

Dizon said the government will continue to scale up the major immunization program across the country as it aims to minimize the number of Covid-19active cases in the country.

“Based on the statistics, we believe that vaccination is our best option for turning the page and perhaps closing the chapter soon.”

More than 60 million Filipinos have been fully immunized against Covid-19, he claims.

By the conclusion of Duterte’s term in June, Dizon said the government aims to offer entire dosages to at least 90 million Filipinos.

“We’ll keep looking for new ways to deliver vaccines closer to Filipinos,” he added, adding that additional pharmacies around the country will begin participating in the government’s ‘Resbakuna sa Botika’ vaccination push.

He also stated that the government will soon begin vaccinations at numerous clinics, schools, and other private establishments.

The Covid-19 vaccine program is now being rolled out to a much younger demographic in the country.
