After an almost two-month power outage caused by Typhoon Odette, just 145 out of 500 towns in Southern Leyte had regained power.

Out of the 105,787 impacted electricity consumers, the Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative (Soleco) reported on Wednesday that just 41,411 residences and establishments have been electrified as of February 4.

“As of this publication, 28.83 percent of communities in Soleco’s coverage region are already partially powered. According to Soleco’s research, “39.15 percent of consumers are already energized.”

Maasin City, Macrohon, Padre Burgos, Tomas Oppus, Bontoc, Sogod, Liloan, Saint Bernard, San Juan, Hinunangan, Malitbog, Libagon, Silago, and Limasawa towns have partially energized villages.

San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, Anahawan, and Hinundayan are still in the dark.

Soleco expects to restore service to all communities by the end of February.

Over 100 linemen have been dispatched by Task Force Kapatid, which is made up of workers from Eastern Visayas electric cooperatives, to repair damaged distribution facilities.

They’re backed up by teams from Luzon’s power cooperatives.
