Sara offers the departed police director an ‘outstanding’ grade.
DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Mayor Sara Z. Duterte gave Col. Kirby John Kraft, the director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), a flawless “10” rating when he resigned on Monday.
“In Davao City, we thanked him for his service. “He is our pandemic director, and he rose to the task of putting in place the most stringent coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) limitations and protocols that we had to do without the vaccine,” the mayor remarked on her monthly radio show.
On the same day, the outgoing city director and the incoming Acting City Director, Col. Alberto Lupaz, had a command handover ceremony at the DCPO grounds.
In October of this year, Kraft was named director of the DCPO.
“We praised him for his leadership in DCPO, and we commended those [uniformed and non-uniformed personnel] for their support to the city administration and hard work in making Davao one of our country’s safest cities,” Duterte continued.
She further stated that, despite the challenges posed by Covid-19, Kraft tried his best.
“Despite the challenges of our Covid-19 reaction, which was unprecedented and for which we had no pattern to follow,” Duterte remarked, “the DCPO, as one with the municipal administration, has achieved everything that was demanded of them under his guidance.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Sara advised Lupaz, the new municipal director, to keep three things in mind about the Dabawenyos’ expectations.
She stated that they demand the best level of service from police officers.
Second, she stated that Dabawenyos do not want police officers to become involved in any illicit activities.
“Dabawenyos are highly particular about the performance of police officers,” Duterte stated.
Finally, she stated that the Dabawenyos do not support a “Padrino system” among police officers.
“The Dabawenyos expect the law to be applied in a fair and just manner to everybody.” “It’s not just on acquaintances and pals,” added the mayor.
Lupaz, on the other hand, has pledged to continue his predecessors’ advocacies and programs for the benefit of public safety.
Before becoming DCPO city director, Lupaz was the director of the Davao Del Sur police provincial office.
