DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The local authorities repealed the modified liquor prohibition on Tuesday, allowing businesses to offer alcoholic beverages once again.

On Monday, Mayor Sara Z. Duterte signed Executive Order No. 5, series of 2022, titled “An Order Providing For The Lifting Of The Modified Liquor Ban In Davao City.”

Duterte remarked in a radio interview that the EO stated that liquor will now be available for use within places that serve such products.

Her most recent EO effectively repeals the prior order that established the liquor prohibition updated criteria in EO 59, series of 2021, which was later altered by EO No. 1, series of 2022.
The newest EO stated, “The prohibition on the serving of liquor in restaurants, bars, karaoke bars, hotels, and all other public institutions is hereby repealed.”

However, it was still illegal to drink alcohol in parks, roads, streets, lanes, footpaths, and other public places.

“This would be the last stage in our prohibition of booze,” Duterte stated.
