The Zambales provincial government launched the “Resbakuna Kids” coronavirus disease (Covid-19) immunization campaign for children aged five to eleven years old on Tuesday.

The launch was headed by Governor Hermogenes Ebdane, who was joined by Zambales Provincial Health Office (PHO) head Dr. Noel Bueno and some Department of Health (DOH) officials at the Balin Sambal Building in Iba’s capital.

On the first day of the immunization campaign, 500 youngsters were injected in a festive mood. A magic performance was held to delight the children, and the site was decked with colorful balloons.

This, according to Bueno, is one means of encouraging children to get vaccinated against Covid-19 in advance of the province’s anticipated introduction of face-to-face sessions.

He urged other parents to allow their children to receive the vaccine, claiming that it protects them from a severe case of the disease.

Despite the lowering incidence of Covid-19 in the province, Bueno encouraged inhabitants to continue to maintain the minimum health standards.

“Tayo po ay sumunod sa basic health requirements,” says the narrator. Maghugas ng kamay at magsuot ng face mask ugaliing. Panatilihin ang social distance at umiwas sa matataong lugar (Let us adhere to the bare minimum of health norms.) Make washing your hands and wearing a face mask a habit. Let us maintain social distance and stay away from crowded locations),” he wrote on social media.

As of February 14, a total of 354,069 Zambales residents had received their first dosage of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 28, 652 were still waiting for their second dose.

34,376 people, on the other hand, have received their booster shots.

From February 16 to 28, Zambales, along with six other provinces in Central Luzon, is under Alert Level 2.

There are currently 11,446 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province, including 126 ongoing infections.
