ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The local Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) said Tuesday that the city will stay on Alert Level 3 from February 16 to 28.

The order is in accordance with national IATF-EID Resolution 161-A dated February 14, according to Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, chairperson of the local IATF-EID.

This occurred despite the local IATF-suggestion EID’s that the city’s alert status be reduced to Level 2 as of February 16.

All other locations in the Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9) were placed on Alert Level 2 by the national IATF-EID.

Salazar previously stated that the necessity for fully vaccinated arriving tourists to undergo a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test will be lifted on February 16 until further notice.

Inbound tourists must submit their vaccination card and Safe, Swift, and Smart Passage (S-Pass) permit at all city boundaries in lieu of the RT-PCR requirement.

For two-dose vaccines, an individual is considered completely vaccinated 14 days after the second jab, and for the Janssen vaccine, an individual is considered fully immunized 14 days after the first shot.

Fully vaccinated passengers arriving from places with a higher alert level must present negative antigen test results obtained from any Department of Health-accredited laboratory within 24 hours of specimen collection, according to the mayor.

Unvaccinated tourists must also present negative RT-PCR test results obtained from their place of origin within 120 hours after specimen collection, or five days.
