MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has delivered 3,928.7 tons of relief materials and other essential supplies to areas hit by Typhoon Odette in December.

“PCG vessels and air assets have delivered a total of 1,883.3 tons of commodities,” the PCG said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, “while PCGA (PCG Auxiliary) planes and private vessels that are part of the aforementioned mission have ferried 2,045.4 tons of supplies.”

On “Valentine’s Day,” PCG District Northeastern Mindanao (CGDNEM) officers gave meals and vitamins to inhabitants of Sitio Looc, Barangay Ipil in Surigao City.

“This is also to improve the victims’ psychological health by gradually lessening the trauma of typhoon Odette victims, particularly children,” the PCG said.

The PCG is transporting relief materials under PCG “Task Force Kalinga,” in accordance with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s directive to assist communities badly hit by “Odette.”

The PCG and other government and business sector partners have employed assets and resources to aid in the recovery of typhoon-stricken areas such as Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga as part of the task force.
