MANILA, Philippines — In light of the improved coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) scenario in the National Capital Region, the Sandiganbayan has made changes to its operations (NCR).

Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang stated in Administrative Order No. 017-2022 dated February 16 and announced Thursday that the modified work arrangements will be in force until further notice.

The anti-graft court must be physically open to all users, and all offices and chambers must function with at least 80% onsite capacity from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to the standards.

The Sandiganbayan’s chambers and offices must adhere to the appropriate minimum health and social distancing standards, while justices, officials, and staff must report their health status to the Medical Section and their respective head of office.

Similarly, any justices, officials, or employees who have flu-like symptoms should not report to work and should contact and update the Medical Section and their immediate supervisors about their health status.

All Sandiganbayan hearings will be held in court, with only the parties, their counsels, and witnesses permitted to enter the courtroom.

Only in extraordinary circumstances, upon motion of either or both parties, or under orders of the court, which will schedule the videoconferencing hearings, may videoconferencing hearings be held.

Personal and electronic filing/service of pleadings and other court submissions are permitted, but only after prior arrangement with the relevant office.

The court also stated that it will continue to process and provide Sandiganbayan clearances via its outside kiosk, and that offices scheduled for Saturday duty will continue to process bail applications and other urgent matters.

Until February 28, the NCR is on Alert Level 2.
