MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte stated on Monday that his weekly “Talk to the People” is a critical channel for the government to inform the public on where their taxes are spent.

Duterte made the remark while urging Filipinos to complain directly to the Office of the Ombudsman if they have any concerns about how his administration spends the public’s money.

“The more evidence you have, the better. Meanwhile, in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Duterte said he opened the PHP14-billion elevated expansion of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) northbound entry connected to the Skyway system last week.

“It is projected to boost the Sith Luzon Expressway’s connectivity and mobility, as well as spur economic revival,” he said.

The government’s SLEX elevated extension infrastructure project, in collaboration with San Miguel Corporation, will link the SLEX to the Skyway system, reducing traffic congestion along SLEX in Southern Metro Manila.

Motorists will now have direct access to and from the elevated Skyway or from Susana Heights to Sucat, Paranaque City, and vice versa, reducing at-grade traffic in the Metro substantially.

The project is a 19-lane kilometer that can accommodate up to 200,000 cars per day, allowing motorists to commute, transfer goods, and trade more efficiently while spending less time stuck in traffic.

‘Don’t be too hard on yourself.’

Duterte reminded the public once more that drugs should only be purchased from pharmacies that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

People should be cautious and discreet when purchasing pharmaceuticals from unlicensed establishments or sari-sari stores, according to him.

Duterte mentioned the dangers of using outdated or counterfeit medications.
