Rama applauds cops for enforcing curfews on youngsters.
CEBU CITY, Philippines – On Thursday, Mayor Michael Rama praised the local police for teaching owners of resto-bars and other businesses that are permitted to operate under Alert Level 2 and for strictly enforcing the kids’ curfew.
In a radio interview, Rama also stated that he had directed the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) team to investigate an incident on February 19 in which officials found a youngster inside a pub in the uptown district during prohibited hours.
According to a media report, when the youngster was turned over to the Probe team and the Cebu City Department of Social Welfare and Services, the police spoke with his parents.
The Cebu City Police Office director, Col. Ernesto Salvador Tagle, stated in a statement that they will launch an education drive to remind restaurateurs that the rule preventing children from being in public places during curfew hours is still in effect.
According to data from the Department of Health-Central Visayas, the city had 696 active illnesses on Wednesday (DOH-7). On February 1, there were approximately 7,000 instances reported.
“We’ve deployed our force multipliers throughout the barangays,” Tagle said, adding that one of the goals of their awareness campaign is to guarantee that minimum health requirements are strictly adhered to.
Meanwhile, CCPO deputy director for operations Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla said station heads have been charged with conducting an information drive on the contents of the mayor’s Executive Order (EO) 163 across the city’s 80 barangays.
“All station commanders must consult and consult with the public, particularly those who live in distant places.” Because most people’s knowledge is based on the stories of their neighbors and acquaintances, we need to teach what is allowed and banned under EO 163 in a real-world situation,” he stated in Cebuano.
Residents will be informed about the restriction of minors in nightclubs and bars, and parents will be advised to keep their children inside their houses between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. the next day, whether or not they are completely vaccinated.
