CITY OF COTABATO – More coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases have been recovered in the surrounding regions of Soccsksargen and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), according to health officials.
According to a report released Tuesday by the Department of Health in Soccsksargen (DOH-12), there are no Covid-19 infections in Koronadal City and Tacurong City, as well as the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato.
The director of DOH-12, Dr. Aristides Concepcion-Tan, stated that the four locations had a high number of cases in January and February of this year.
DOH-12 also reported 18 new illnesses on Tuesday, with General Santos City and South Cotabato each having seven, and Sarangani and Kidapawan City each having one.
The Department of Health also stated that 67 individuals survived Covid-19, while two died in General Santos City and Tampakan, South Cotabato, respectively.
Since the pandemic was declared in March 2020, there have been 70,179 Covid-19 cumulative cases in the Soccsksargen, 67,414 recoveries, 181 active cases, and 2,552 fatalities.
Meanwhile, the BARMM Ministry of Health (MOH) said that as of Monday night, just two people had contracted the illness and have been isolated.
During a normal MOH press conference on Tuesday, Dr. Zul Qarnayn Abas, MOH-BARMM OIC minister, said Covid-19 infections have been steadily declining for the past two months.
“If we work together, we will win; the infections are decreasing, and we hope this trend continues,” he stated in the vernacular.
Maguindanao and Cotabato City each had two new instances, while Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, as well as the cities of Marawi and Lamitan, had none.
According to Abas, there have been four fresh recoveries, bringing the total number of active cases in the region to 17.
BARMM has 19,726 confirmed cases and 19,023 retrieved cases to date. Six hundred and eighty-six people were killed.
