Dumaguete water company ensures supply in the face of low power voltage
CITY OF DUMAGUETE – Metro Dumaguete Water (MDW) assured its customers served by seven pumping stations here on Wednesday of an uninterrupted water supply in the event of an unstable electrical supply or low voltage provided by the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II (NORECO II).
Water service interruptions are currently occurring in areas served by Pumping Stations 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 18, and 2A.
“While there may be less pressure at certain times of the day due to unstable power, we assure our clients of uninterrupted service because each of these pumping stations has its own generator set,” MDW spokesperson Kate Young Ricardo told the Philippine News Agency in an interview.
“The pumps are connected to NORECO II, and we are currently communicating with them to determine how we can work together to address that,” she added. “When a brownout or low voltage occurs, we must switch to our gen-sets to avoid a brief interruption.”
MDW Chief Operating Officer Angelo David Berba also assured clients of adequate supply during the summer months, stating that the company sources water from a nearby watershed.
Berba added that the firm is also investing millions of pesos in upgrading the local water system following their takeover of the previous water district.
MDW is a joint venture between Metro Pacific Water (MPW) and the Municipality of Dumaguete (DCWD).
Meanwhile, the MDW, in collaboration with the Dumaguete City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), is commemorating 2022 World Water Day with a photo exhibit from March 22 to April 5 to encourage the public to assist in water conservation.
The photo exhibit, which opened Tuesday at the local Robinsons Place shopping mall, features winning entries from last year’s and early this year’s photo contests.
