MANILA, Philippines — Over 13,000 tourists came to the country on Friday, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

BI spokeswoman Dana Sandoval said the dry season will bring more visitors.

“Our overall arrivals reached 13,525 individuals when April 1 hit, with nearly pre-pandemic visa restrictions,” she stated at the Laging Handa briefing.

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport handled ninety percent of the arrivals.

“The majority (of those who arrived) were Filipinos, with about 30% being foreign nationalities,” she explained.

The daily average arrivals in March were 10,000, with some days seeing as many as 12,000 people.

Foreigners can now enter the nation without presenting entry exemption documents as of April 1.

They must be fully vaccinated and meet basic requirements such as having valid passports for at least six months, return tickets, and acceptable proof of vaccination as approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), and negative Covid-19 test results.

A negative laboratory-based antigen test taken within 24 hours before departure may be used as a substitute for the reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction test, which must be taken 48 hours prior to departure.

The World Health Organization International Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis, VaxCertPH, a national or state digital certificate of a foreign country accepting VaxCertPH, and other proofs of vaccination permitted by the IATF-EID are all acceptable proofs of vaccination for foreigners.
