The fourth dose of a booster shot for children aged 12 to 17 is awaiting approval.
BAGUIO CITY, PHILIPPINES — The Department of Health (DOH) has asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to change several Covid-19 vaccine brands’ Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) so that they can be given as booster doses to children aged 12 to 17.
National Task Force Against Covid-19 lead implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said at the “ResBakuna Kids and Tourists” activity here on Saturday that the DOH has already submitted a request to the FDA to change the EUA of the Pfizer and Moderna jabs.
According to Galvez, the government is also pushing for a fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to be administered to specific areas.
“Hinihiling po namin sa inyo na kapag nag-open na ang ating fourth dosage, at nag-open na rin ang booster sa 12 to 17 years old, magpabakuna tayo, magpabakuna tayo, magpabakuna tayo, magpabakuna tayo, magpabakun Hangga’t maaga, magpabakuna na (We’re pleading with you to obtain your vaccinations if the fourth dose and booster doses for those aged 12 to 17 are allowed.) In a news release, he remarked, “Let’s be vaccinated as soon as feasible).”
A total of 9,058,466 people aged 12 to 17 had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of April 8.
The immunization program, which took place at a mall in the city, targeted children aged 5 to 11 as well as tourists.
Galvez wants Baguio to be a model for the national government’s vaccination efforts.
“We want to demonstrate to locals and visitors alike that Baguio City is open for business.” They will feel safe when they come here. Galvez stated in a combination of English and Filipino that tourists can even get immunized here. “Baguio is a lovely city that is not only a popular tourist destination but also a center for health, wellness, and vaccinations.”
Galvez praised individuals who work persistently to support the country’s pandemic response efforts, particularly the immunization program, in honor of “Araw ng Kagitingan” (Day of Valor).
The Philippines had previously given out 143,966,310 Covid-19 vaccine doses.
66,609,892 Filipinos have received their entire vaccination, while 12,443,226 have received booster or additional doses.
