‘Sinister’ reports against Domagoso are slammed by Aksyon Demoratiko.

MANILA, Philippines — Following rumors of supporters fleeing its standard-bearer, Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, the Aksyon Demokratiko party called for a halt to the propagation of disinformation and fake news on Tuesday.

It’s a “sinister strategy,” according to party chair Ernest Ramel, to make it look like volunteers and party members are defecting to Vice President Leni Robredo’s camp.

“These devilish efforts aimed at hurting Mayor Isko’s political party have no end in sight,” Ramel stated in a statement. “Enough with the lies and half-truths. Let’s put an end to a rehash of defections that has already been dubbed “false news.”

During a news conference at a Makati City hotel two days earlier, Domagoso requested Robredo’s withdrawal from the presidential contest.

Domagoso said on Monday that it was a dose of Robredo’s own medicine, as her camp had been pleading with him to withdraw since last year.

Rivals During the same press conference, Senator Panfilo Lacson and former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales confirmed that they, too, had been requested to withdraw by the Robredo campaign, but did not ask the Vice President to do so.

Former officials and members of Aksyon Demokratiko voiced their unhappiness with Domagoso’s accusations against Robredo in an undated statement.

Kaye Ann Legaspi, vice president for youth, and John Erdie delos Santos, executive director, of Aksyon Demokratiko; Paul Andrei Roset, San Pablo City, Laguna councilor candidate; and Rewin Eros Maghirang, Darren Gonzales, Jose Marco Terrado, Bryan Ezra Gonzales, and Kevin Mandrilla, all former members of Isko Tayo Kabataan, signed the letter posted on social media.

While the organization praised the presidentiables for their will to pursue their campaigns, they said Domagoso’s call for Robredo to resign was undesirable.

“It was evident that Moreno regarded the press conference as an opportunity to retaliate against Robredo’s supporters’ initial calls for him to resign, which he describes as a social injustice.” “However, the good mayor of Manila should be reminded that Robredo never made that appeal,” the letter continued.

The people behind the defection of three IM (Isko Moreno) volunteers, according to Ramel, are the same people who recruited three Aksyon Demokratiko youth members and volunteers.

De Los Santos and Legaspi resigned from the party on April 2 and early March, respectively, as reported on Facebook, and not because of the press conference, according to Ramel.

He claimed he was unaware of any of the supposed Aksyon Demokratiko defections to the Robredo group.
