BAGUIO CITY, PHILIPPINES — On Tuesday, the second booster injection against the coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19) was administered to immunocompromised persons at satellite health clinics in communities.

In a media interview on Tuesday, municipal health office chief Dr. Rowena Galpo said the vaccination began at the several district health centers serving Baguio’s 128 communities to bring services closer to the residents.

She also stated that the second booster immunization had begun in malls.

According to the Public Information Office-Baguio, 115,276 out of the 281,000 targets eligible adult population have received their first booster dose as of April 25.

According to Galpo, the city has begun to wind down its operations at the mega-vaccination sites in order to allow schools to use their facilities and the mall to provide space for its clientele.

“Aside from pursuing mobile vaccination to cater to the immobile and senior citizens,” she said, “we do immunization in various health centers.”

Immuno-compromised people, such as people with immune deficiency, people living with human immunodeficiency syndrome or HIV, cancer patients, transplant recipients, and bedridden patients, will be prioritized, according to Galpo.

According to the city’s recommendation for the second booster injection, eligible individuals should wait at least three months after their third dose or the first booster shot to have their vaccinations.

A vaccination card, a valid identification card, and a medical certificate showing the individual’s immune-compromised condition are among the prerequisites.

She encouraged people who have not yet received their first booster to do so at Watson’s pharmacy, Mercury Drugstore, the SM immunization location, or the district health facility. They can also contact the health services office to inquire about mobile vaccination, which provides inoculation to individuals at their homes.
