CITY OF CAGAYAN DE ORO – Local leaders in the Northern Mindanao region have shown their support for UniTeam presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice-presidential candidate Sara Z. Duterte.

Prior to the UniTeam major gathering at the Pelaez Sports Center on Tuesday evening, Marcos and Duterte met with a number of local candidates from across the region.

Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, the governor of Lanao del Norte and a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), reaffirmed her provincial slate’s support for Marcos-Duterte.

“Lanao del Norte is actually for BBM,” says the narrator (Bongbong Marcos). Even our local political foes are rallying behind us (him). In a Facebook post-Tuesday, Dimaporo stated, “I told BBM I’m really glad in Lanao del Norte since even our political opponents are supporting you and Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.”

In Tubod, Lanao del Norte, the Dimaporo’s bailiwick, Marcos, and Duterte conducted a mini-rally on Tuesday.

Governor Philip Tan of Misamis Occidental and his wife, Tangub City Mayor Jenny Tan, said they met with Marcos and Duterte before Tuesday’s event to express their support.

Rolando Uy, a representative from the First District, and Jose Gabriel La Via, a mayoral candidate from this city, met individually with Marcos and Duterte, as well as their respective slates.

In a separate statement, the PFP stated it is certain that the Marcos-Duterte ticket will win in this city and Misamis Oriental, citing the large throng that turned out despite the rain for the major rally here.

The local Padayon Pilipino party, whose gubernatorial candidate, Peter Unabia, also supports the UniTeam, organized the demonstration at the Sports Center here.

Visits to Mindanao by Leni

Meanwhile, Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, another presidential candidate, has stated that she intends to visit Mindanao, including this region.

Robredo said she plans to visit this city, as well as the towns of Kauswagan and Tubod in Lanao del Norte, in a video posted on her official Facebook account Tuesday evening.

Robredo stated that the provinces of Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Sur are also on her itinerary because she has yet to visit them.

Furthermore, Robredo stated that a “great rally” is being planned in Agusan del Sur, where incumbent provincial politicians from the National Unity Party are advocating for a Robredo-Duterte candidacy.

In addition, the vice president plans to return to Zamboanga del Norte.
