Rainy days have returned, according to PAGASA.

MANILA โ€“ The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) proclaimed the rainy season to begin on Wednesday afternoon.

Intermittent rains linked with the southwest monsoon, or habagat, will begin to affect Metro Manila and the western half of the country, according to PAGASA administrator Vicente Malano.

Monsoon breaks (or breaks in rainfall events) are still possible, according to him, and might persist for days or weeks.

According to PAGASA, the existence of a frontal system and the occurrence of strong thunderstorms have caused extensive precipitation in Type I climate zones and other parts of the country in the last five days.

If a province has a distinct dry and wet season (wet from June to November and dry the rest of the year), it is classified as having a Type I climate.

“The southwesterly wind flow was also seen in the past few days,” according to the statement, “which fits the requirements of the onset of the rainy season over the western regions of Luzon and (the) Visayas.”

La Nia may continue to affect several parts of the country, increasing the chances of above-normal rainfall in the coming months, according to PAGASA.

People should expect showers most likely in the afternoon and evening during the rainy season, according to PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina.

This week, no weather disturbances are forecast, according to Badrina.

The frontal system and southwesterly surface windflow are generating showers across parts of Luzon, particularly in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga, and Bulacan as of Wednesday afternoon.

Residents in these places should always pack an umbrella, according to Badrina. He predicted that the rest of Luzon would have pleasant weather with sporadic rainfall.
