After a two-year absence owing to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) epidemic, the Negros Trade Fair, the longest-running provincial trade fair in the nation, returns in September to demonstrate the “resilience of the Negrense spirit.”

The event, which this year’s theme is “Hidlaw” (the Hiligaynon word for yearning, longing, or missing), is put on by the Association of Negros Producers (ANP) in collaboration with the provincial government of Negros Occidental. It takes place from September 20 to September 25 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City.

The topic, according to Mary Ann Colmenares, vice president for advocacy at the ANP, expresses how much the organization misses organizing the event that they have been doing since 1985.

“The preceding two years have given us the chance to reorganize, think about, and relaunch. The 36th Negros Trade Fair will demonstrate the tenacity of the Negrense mentality, Colmenares remarked at the formal announcement of the event on Thursday afternoon at the ANP Hub in this city.

New rural community-based artists who were created and given authority through the association’s collaboration with the Provincial Peace and Order Council would be among those showcased, she said.

She continued, “We are also thrilled to present new brands that sprang from the pandemic and cutting-edge designs from our existing producers.

The San Carlos City orchestra and festival artists will provide entertainment for the attendees during the course of the six-day event, which will also see local government units in Negros Occidental promote local tourism with their respective goods.

The long-running Masskara Festival, which is scheduled to take place in October, is one of the Negros Trade Fair’s supporting events, according to Colmenares.

Through its online store www.shopnegrostradefair.com, which it launched last year, the ANP will restart the virtual Negros Trade Fair for markets outside of Metro Manila.
