PNP keeps improving its investigative capacities.
In order to offer the public the “most credible service,” Philippine National Police (PNP) head Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. stated that the agency continues to “upscale” its investigation capabilities through retraining programs.
In a statement on Saturday, Azurin said, “This retraining session is a reinforcement to capacitate our workers better and to enhance their morale despite the onerous criteria before submitting lawsuits in the judiciary.”
He stated that as of 2021, 4,326 individuals have completed a recapitulation program for case management and that around 16,000 investigators and evidence custodians are now undergoing training.
Azurin expressed the hope that the PNP’s steadfast will to keep up the fight against drug misuse and trafficking will not be weakened by the low conviction rate for drug cases.
“Let us not lose heart since we are upgrading our skills. I am responsible for ensuring that all operations are conducted according to protocol and that all evidence is gathered for the court’s consideration, according to Azurin.
He also reassured the public that the firm has a zero-tolerance policy for wrongdoings and irregularities carried out by errant employees.
“We constantly work to offer the general public the most trustworthy service possible. Their trust is the cornerstone of our obligation to fight for justice and end crime. Therefore, in order for this to occur, we must make sure that we value being dependable law enforcers, stated Azurin.
Azurin claimed that while the PNP appreciates the work of honorable and committed police personnel, it condemns those who damage the organization’s good name.
He continued by saying that the PNP monitors student-related crime occurrences against women.
From July 1 to August 31, 2022, 149 offenses of this kind were reported countrywide, according to PNP data.
These are primarily rape cases from the National Capital Region (NCR). Lascivious behaviors and violations of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 were other frequent reported occurrences.
“While we don’t want to scare the students, we do want to make them aware of their surroundings. Children must take their parents’ warnings seriously not to trust strangers, Azurin said.
As a result, Azurin reassured the people that there is a constant police presence to dissuade criminals from preying on victims, particularly in crime-prone regions.
To work together to ensure the protection of the children, the education department and the PNP have tight coordination. As lessons resume in person, it will be more difficult for police to keep a tight eye on the area around educational facilities, according to Azurin.
He vowed to resolve the reported instances to the various police stations and units.
