DPWH has scheduled weekend road works in Metro Manila.
The Department of Public and Works and Highways (DPWH) encouraged motorists on Friday to seek out alternate routes as many national road portions in Metro Manila will be repaired this weekend.
The repairs will begin on Friday at 11 p.m., according to a warning from Nomer Abel Canlas, director of DPWH National Capital Region (NCR).
Three portions of Epifanio de Los Avenue (EDSA) in Quezon City will receive repairs: the bus lane from Santolan MRT Station; the second lane from the sidewalk at Cubao Bus Station; and the third lane from the sidewalk from Aurora to Kamuning Road (intermittent section).
Similar to this, road repair work will be done on EDSA Southbound in Quezon City, including the U-turn slot service road in front of the GMA Network Building, the first block service road at the Kamuning Road intersection, and the Balingasa Creek to Oliveros Footbridge.
Other citywide roadworks scheduled for this weekend include those on Fairview Avenue Southbound, near the Mindanao Avenue Exit, the first lane from the center island; Fairview Avenue Northbound, after the corner of Yakal Street; Cloverleaf Northbound, from EDSA to NLEX segment; Quirino Highway, before the Manila North Diversion Road (MNDR) Flyover; and Roosevelt Avenue, near M.H. Del Pilar Street.
The southbound outer lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard in Manila will be repaired, fronting North Harbor Center Gate 2 to Vitas Bridge.
Similar work will be done on sections of C-5 in Makati and Pasig, particularly the second southbound lane in Makati and the service road in front of Global Oil Gas Station, and the truck lane in Pasig City.
The DPWH official, on the other hand, recommended drivers use alternate routes because of potential traffic congestion close to the construction sites.
On September 19 at 5 a.m., the impacted traffic lanes will be completely usable.
