According to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Tuesday, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is “extremely serious” in his desire to take the Philippines “to greater heights.”

Speaking to a small group of Palace media, Bersamin expressed his “impression” of Marcos’ work output, stating that the Chief Executive frequently reminds his Cabinet to put in more effort for the nation’s good.

After taking over as Executive Secretary on September 27, Bersamin remarked of Marcos, “He (Marcos) is very, very sincere, and he wants us to do more.”

Although Bersamin had only been able to attend two Cabinet sessions since taking the oath of office on September 27, he stated he was always “impressed about [Marcos’] genuineness.”

Given the administration’s accomplishments, he found Marcos’ first three months in office to be “quite encouraging.”

Bersamin claimed that despite having been an “outsider for a very long time,” he was already aware of the “many” accomplishments of the Marcos administration.

Bersamin added that there is a “very distinct” chance that Marcos will sign the bills on SIM registration and postpone the 2022 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, among other laws, which are waiting for his approval.

This came when Congress formally forwarded the enrolled copies of the two measures to Marcos’ administration.

Presidents “extremely rarely” veto legislation, according to Bersamin.

Marcos claimed in a Facebook post that he and his Cabinet talked about how to keep an eye on, address, and guarantee the stability of the nation’s food supply.

(During my meeting with the Cabinet, we step up steps to monitor the prices of commodities.) Sisiguruhin po natin na maisasaayos ang suplay ng pagkain upang maging sapat at abot-kaya para sa mamamayang Pilipino. We’ll make sure we have enough food that’s also reasonably priced, he said.
