At the Cebu tourism employment fair, almost 300 people were “hired on the spot.”

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Wednesday that 332 applications were hired right away (HOTS) at the recent “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso: Philippine Tourism Job Fair” in Cebu City.

Officer-in-Charge of DOLE-7 (Central Visayas) More than 20 of those who found work, according to Lilia Estillore, had graduated from high school.

As new dealers, stock clerks, cashiers, service technicians, and customer service agents were hired.

The first-ever Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso: Philippine Tourism Job Fair, which was held last week at SM City Cebu, had a positive turnout, she said in a statement, “showing that the tourism industry in Region 7 is resurrected and is now welcome back more applications to complement the workforce it requires.”

Jonalyn Terante, a recent graduate from Moalboal, Cebu, who has no prior work experience, is one of the new hires and is now a dealer at Nustar Resort and Casino.

ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers, cashiers, new dealers, customer service representatives, sales employees, service crew, office workers, customer assistants, stock clerks, and baggers are the positions with the highest percentage of HOTS.

On the other hand, QQ English, Rulls Cellphones and Accessories, Inc., SM Savemore, Nustar Resort and Casino, Azpired Inc., SM Supermarket, SM Store, Supervalue Inc., McDonald’s Philippines; and SM Appliance are the top participating employers that recruited the most applications.

“We appreciate all participating employers, especially those that immediately hired applications. In addition to the new HOTS, we are hopeful that more employers will attend our next job fairs and that more applicants will be given a chance to find a respectable job as well,” she continued.

Only 1,232 of the 1,830 registered job candidates were qualified.

100 people were recommended to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for business opportunities and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for skill development.

Estillore claimed that given the 182 applications they have identified as Near Hires, they anticipate a rise in the number of HOTS.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and its partner Public Employment Service Office (PESO), which is the Department of Manpower Development and Placement in Cebu City, will keep an eye on “Near Hires” or job seekers who have been hired but still need to provide additional or missing requirements (DMDP).

On September 22 and 23, the employment fair was officially opened in Cebu at the Cebu Trade Hall in SM City Cebu.

Additionally, Davao City and Metro Manila hosted simultaneous events.
