The House of Representatives hosted a training on using Facebook and Instagram to interact with communities on Wednesday in partnership with Facebook/Meta Philippines. The event also covered best practices for social media security and advertising.
Facebook Singapore’s Roy Tan, Head of Politics and Government Outreach at Meta, provided crucial insights on how to use innovative content strategies to interact in social media effectively.
To reach audience engagement in this day and age, Tan suggested using brief cuts or “reels” for institutions on Facebook and Instagram.
During the two-hour conversation, he stressed the need to be genuine and personable in posts on Facebook, saying that you only need 1.7 seconds to captivate an audience.
Guilin Zhao, the Government and Social Impact Partner Manager for the Asia Pacific at Meta, spoke about Facebook’s advertising options, guidelines, and effective methods for reaching out to the public.
She went into great detail on what makes an advertisement, how to advertise, and how people interpret advertisements.
She suggested using running or boosting advertising to reach a larger audience.
Zhao added that the format used is still another important aspect of an advertisement.
Selected representatives from the Tingog Party list, the Office of the Speaker (OSPKR), the Office of the Secretary-General (OSG), the Inter-Parliamentary and Public Affairs Department (IPPAD), the Information and Communications Technology Service (ICTS), and other departments with a role in the lower chamber’s social media platforms attended the seminar.
