By collaborating with Spectrum on a 99-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar power project in Quezon City, OB Montessori Center is switching to renewable energy in response to the government’s push for a clean energy transition.

In a statement released on Monday, Spectrum, a subsidiary of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), said the agreement for a 99-kWp solar rooftop project at OB Montessori’s Fairview campus was signed on December 9 by Joy Mendoza, head of Meralco’s Biz Partners, Patrick Henry Panlilio, and Sara Soliven de Guzman, president, and CEO of OB Montessori.

According to Spectrum, this project is anticipated to provide 132,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, resulting in annual savings of close to PHP 900,000.

The addition of the solar rooftop will reduce OB Montessori’s carbon footprint by 94 tonnes, which is the same as planting over 4,300 trees or cutting down on annual automobile traffic of almost 232,200 miles.

“This cooperation is more promising because both Meralco, our parent company, and OB Montessori share a persistent dedication to sustainability and nation-building. “OB Montessori is guaranteed to receive not only excellent and reliable service but also the necessary strong support that they will need as they transition to clean energy to further advance their current sustainability practices,” Panlilio said of Spectrum’s energy expertise and end-to-end solar solutions.

With the collaboration, OB Montessori will now be able to establish solar power facilities among other national and local clients who have worked with Meralco and Spectrum.

The Meralco division offers specially designed solar power projects for industrial, commercial, and residential customers that want to switch to clean energy.
