As part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector, the Department of Agriculture (DA) has allocated rice farmers in Central Luzon fertilizer discount vouchers totaling over PHP286 million.

The region’s 187,100 hectares of rice fields are intended to be covered by the fertilizer discount voucher scheme with the complete budgetary allotment.

The farmers who obtained the fertilizer discount vouchers under the DA’s Rice Banner Program are those who planted palay in the wet season of 2022 as well as those who received inbred and hybrid seeds from the DA.

The DA’s Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture also requires the farmer recipients to be registered.

The DA Regional Rice Banner Program’s representative, Agriculturist Billy Roy Aquino, stated on Friday that the issuance of fertilizer discount vouchers began in July of last year and that the deadline for claims is on January 31, this year.

The DA gave rice farmers in Pura, Tarlac, cheap coupons for fertilizer on Tuesday.

Leo Transfiguracion, a municipal agriculturalist, reported that a caravan in search of the unclaimed coupons had already taken place.

To quote the line: “Layunin nito na maibsan ang kanilang gastos sa pagbili ng pataba para sa kanilang sinasaka. The program’s goal is to assist farmers with their costs associated with buying fertilizer. Ang government is tuloy the one providing financial support for them. With an interview, Transfiguracion stated that the government “continually assists our farmers on their expenses in their rice fields.”

A farmer from Barangay Nilasin 1st in Pura town named Meriam Pascual Graneta thanked the DA for the help.

Mula pandemic, many programs are available from DA. I would want to express my gratitude for the fertilizer certificate that I received. I am a single mom and I am also grateful. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the DA has had many programs. Sana po ay maulit muli dahil laking bawas sa gastos namin sa abono. I appreciate the fertilizer certificate I received because it will help us out greatly, especially since I am a single mom. Because of the significant decrease in our fertilizer costs, perhaps this won’t happen again, Graneta stated.

The program’s farmer participants will utilize the vouchers to purchase fertilizer from authorized retailers.

For an inbred plant, the discount coupon is worth PHP1,131 per hectare, while for a hybrid plant, it is worth PHP2,262 per hectare.
