Farmers in Albay receive P100,000 in revenue thanks to Kadiwa ng Pangulo.
Local farmers now have additional income thanks to a special Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) outlet called “KNP Para sa Manggagawa” which produced approximately PHP100,000 in sales on its first day alone.
Johana Vi Gasga, a spokesman for the Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5), told the Philippine News Agency on Thursday that the total sales from the KNP’s launch at these Ayala Malls on Wednesday was PHP97,338.
Along with the Department of Agriculture (DA)-5 and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-5, it’s a promising start for the first day of the Kadiwa. From April 26 to May 1, 2023, a six-day Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa, Livelihood Fair, and Diskwento Caravan would occur, according to Gasga.
A total of 30 farmers and fishermen’s cooperatives and micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) participated in the event by exhibiting their goods.
The Kadiwa program, according to Gasga, aims to ensure that food commodities are made available and accessible in areas with high consumer demand by enlisting the help of the private sector, boosting the abilities of farmers’ cooperatives and associations, and involving community organizations in the system of distributing food supplies.
“DA’s Kadiwa ” program facilitates market connection and has eliminated the extra layers in the trading cycle. Fewer intermediaries increase the selling value of the goods, allowing consumers to purchase other food items at fair prices and freshly harvested agricultural products. Additionally, it empowers food producers to become agri-preneurs, according to her.
The Diskwento Caravan (DC), a DTI effort in collaboration with producers and suppliers of essential goods and premium commodities, strives to give customers access to high-quality goods at competitive prices.
“Kami po sa DOLE, full force na sumusuporta sa layunin ng ating Pangulo para mapababa ang presyo ng pangunahing bilihin at pagkain para sa mamamayan,” said the Pangulo. It is a pre-Labor Day activity called “Kadiwa,” and the date it will be held is May 1, when the “Trabajo, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Job Fair” will be held. “We at DOLE support in full force the goal of our President to lower the prices of basic goods and food for the people,” the statement reads. The Employment, Business, and Livelihood Job Fair on May 1st is the centerpiece of this Kadiwa, which is a pre-Labor Day celebration, according to a statement from DOLE-5 Regional Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita.
The DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) recipients’ items will be on display at the livelihood expo they organized.
The profile, participating sellers will get paid from DOLE as part of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) during the activities.
